Brutal Legend
At first glance I thought Brutal Legend was going to be a cheesey kid friendly attempt at a Heavy metal game. I WAS WRONG. The game is packed with blood, gore and excessive foul language which got Brutal Legend a nice M Rating. And as if that wasn't enough? The gameplay is very nice too. As The character "Eddie" you wield an arrary of Melee attacks using an Axe as well as "Magic like" attacks using your trusty guitar. The cinematics are entertaining and tell the story wonderfully. The character graphics are a bit cartoonish but the landscape is a masterpiece. The tower of skulls is amazingly realistic as are most structures and enemies in the game. Brutal Legend also has special appearences by metal icons such as Ozzy Osbourne. The story is entertaining, the graphics asstounding and the gameplay is rock solid. Truly one of the best games of the year. Brutal Legend recieves 5 out of 5!
IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey
Yes it's another flight sim/combat game with online multiplayer. Yes.. another one. Ok I'm gonna keep this one short and not so sweet because that's all that IL-2 deserves. While the game's graphics are moderately good and the gameplay is somewhat memorable what it all boils down to is with so many flight combat sims out there you need somthing ASTONISHING to satisfy the players of the genre. IL-2's difficulty settings which change camera view and makes your control be almost non apparent. If you like flight sims that offer a mode so you can't see hardly anything and makes your plane go into barrel rolls while trying to turn get this game!!! BGR Final Score: 2 out of 5
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Hayabusa is back in this action packed addition to the Ninja Gaiden franchise. As a longtime fan of the Dead or Alive series and the ability to use Ayane in this installment I couldn't wait to try this one. The graphics are seamless, the gameplay is action packed but controls are occasionally a loose cannon. You will find all the old favorites in weaponry including the dragonsword. What brings real refreshment to this title is wielding Ayane's awesome speed and double sais. She moves flawlessly through enemies as if you were cutting through butter. And although this is fun for awhile... it becomes a bit repetitive and easy. The boss fights leave you wanting somthing more. All in all it's a solid title and keeps with the normalities of the Ninja Gaiden series. If you are looking for a repetitive but fun title with awesome graphics and decent gameplay Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will appease your appetite. BGR Final Score: 3 out of 5.
